I took my son to work today.
He’s 3 and some, and is very cute and outgoing. Have been talking about coming to Mom’s work for about 7 months now. It’s a holiday at kinder garden so it was a good opportunity.
It was actually a refreshing change, since it really puts the work in another perspective. For example: while I was at a very important discussion with a colleage I heard “Mom, I need to go to the bathroom”. I left everything immediately. Nothing is more important than this, after all
Is it something that bothers others, when people bring their kids to work? I guess so. It’s very distracting, and I’m sure in some way reducing productivity to all (naturally – to me). But how much so? Maybe the effect of the cute child with the winning smile, and getting to know the boss from another perspective, more personal one, is actually good for morale, and therefore improving productivity in the big picture?
